Trunk Weapon Storage, Fuel Systems, and Relationship Meter Detailed for GTA 6
Surfaced gameplay details indicate GTA 6 introduces vehicle trunk weapon storage, vehicle fuel gauges, an in-game car summoning app, and a dynamic relationship system.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to introduce notable mechanical overhauls to combat, transportation, and protagonist dynamics, according to newly surfaced gameplay details.
Among the most substantial shifts from prior entries is a revamped weapon loadout system. Rather than carrying an entire arsenal on their person at all times, players reportedly store their wider weapon collection inside the trunk of their vehicle. This requires deliberate planning before entering firefights, mirroring the saddlebag equipment system introduced in Red Dead Redemption 2. Driving itself involves deeper simulation mechanics, with vehicles featuring engine health indicators alongside functional fuel gauges that can be replenished at filling stations. When left stranded on foot, characters can request a vehicle delivery via an in-game mobile application dubbed Scooter Bros.
The dynamic between co-protagonists Jason and Lucia will operate across both narrative missions and open exploration. Players can seamlessly swap between the two characters at any point, while their personal connection is tracked through a four-point relationship scale that improves as they spend time together in the open world.
Civilian behavior and law enforcement systems have received comparable systemic upgrades. Regional demographics influence how non-playable characters behave across different districts, and an odor mechanic allows nearby bystanders to actively react to foul smells. The law enforcement response introduces trained K9 units during foot pursuits, while public transit infrastructure features operational bus and passenger train lines connecting the game's expansive map.
Rockstar has reportedly leaned into the deliberate pacing and narrative depth established in Red Dead Redemption 2, utilizing a landmass that rivals the playable areas of Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto V, and Red Dead Redemption 2 combined.
