Virgin Media Outlines GTA 6 Pre-Load Window and Download Estimates
Virgin Media outlines an estimated November 12 pre-load date for GTA 6 alongside download speed projections, noting official install sizes remain unconfirmed.

Virgin Media has released a broadband download analysis and calculator for Grand Theft Auto 6, estimating expected installation times across various home network speeds and projecting a digital pre-load window beginning 12 November.
According to the provider's breakdown, digital pre-orders are expected to unlock pre-loading a full week ahead of launch to allow players sufficient time to transfer substantial game files. The analysis also claims that standard physical boxed editions will ship with digital download codes instead of storing the complete game data on physical media, meaning retail buyers would face identical download requirements on day one.
Rockstar Games has not yet published official installation requirements or confirmed disc packaging details. Virgin Media notes that official storage requirements generally surface closer to launch, dismissing fabricated rumors such as an alleged 676GB install footprint. Instead, current industry expectations place the baseline console installation roughly between 150GB and 200GB on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, potentially climbing higher once mandatory day-one updates and patches are factored in.
To help players gauge preparation for launch night, the provider calculated transfer durations using a working benchmark of 190GB. On entry-level connections averaging 36 Mbps, a download of that scale would take roughly 11 to 12 hours, while a standard 132 Mbps service would require just over three hours. High-speed gigabit connections could conclude the download in approximately 22 minutes. Players planning for release are advised to clear internal solid-state drive storage in advance and utilize wired Ethernet connections to avoid bandwidth throttling and packet drops.
